About us
Dyson is a global technology enterprise. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better. We’re driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement. We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people.
Our scale and rapid growth make Dyson rich in new opportunities. We value new ideas and diverse perspectives, so our people are trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset. You’ll develop fast and have the chance to move into different business areas and regions. And you’ll be part of a global network of like-minded people – a community that supports and learns from each other.
About the role
As a Product Owner for the Developer Platform & SDLC Toolchain, you'll own the end-to-end product vision, roadmap, and backlog for the engineering toolchain that enables fast, secure, compliant software delivery at scale. You will treat the SDLC toolchain as a cohesive product experience, not a collection of tools—balancing strategic vision with day-to-day prioritisation and stakeholder alignment.
You will partner closely with software engineering, QA, DevOps/SRE, architecture, security, compliance, and platform teams to define priorities, remove friction, and elevate developer experience across the organisation.
Stakeholder Management & Needs Discovery
Represent engineering, security, quality, and business needs across teams.
Identify user needs, friction points, and gaps in capabilities.
Balance competing priorities (e.g., speed vs. governance).
Turn ambiguous problems into clear requirements.
Run engagement forums (e.g., engineering productivity boards, tooling councils).
Backlog Ownership & Prioritisation
Maintain a unified backlog across features, tech debt, security, compliance, and reliability.
Prioritise based on value, engineering leverage, risk, and compliance.
Balance long‑term roadmap with day‑to‑day realities using frameworks like WSJF or cost‑of‑delay.
Translating Needs into Clear Outcomes
Define desired outcomes, success metrics, and acceptance criteria.
Write clear epics/features and document assumptions and constraints.
Ensure consistent workflows across Jira, CI, SCM, Artifactory, and other tools.
Developer Experience Ownership
Own and improve DevEx metrics (e.g., time to first commit, lead time for change, pipeline reliability).
Define KPIs, interpret telemetry, and incorporate feedback.
Promote automation, self‑service, and paved‑road tooling experiences.
Security, Compliance & Risk Integration
Embed shift‑left security tools (SAST/DAST, SonarQube, BlackDuck) into workflows.
Ensure actionable, low‑friction security feedback.
Maintain traceability across Jira → code → build → artefact and support auditability.
Roadmap Planning & Delivery Alignment
Build quarterly/annual roadmaps aligned with company initiatives.
Communicate dependencies, trade‑offs, and sequencing.
Support planning ceremonies and resolve prioritisation conflicts.
